Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Yaya Toure’s return against Arsenal in Thursday’s Premier League clash at the Emirates stadium ‘depends on him’.
Sunday’s injury to Fernandinho in the EFL Cup final victory Arsenal has left Guardiola without many alternatives at the base of his midfield with Toure who has not been part of City’s matchday squad in their last four games seeming the only natural choice.
Guardiola confirmed on Wednesday that Touré is fit and available to take Fernandinho’s place, but suggested he is still not guaranteed to be selected at the Emirates.
“It depends on him. It is simple like that. It depends on him. If he is coming back who he is, he is going to play. He is fit.” said Guardiola as quoted by the Independent
Fernandinho who be missing his irst Premier League game of the season with the league leaders is a certainty to miss Thursday’s meeting with Arsenal having suffered a hamstring strain at Wembley on Sunday.
